First timers up and going

Derrick’s and Bernardette’s two day introductory workshop at the end of Sept was a bit weather tough but both caught their first fish on the fly by end of day one.

First up, Derrick is a picture of concentration with his first one (turned out to be a top nick rainbow), and again the Dark Brown Emerger was successful.

Then ‘last cast’ Bernardette came good with this excellent 4lb brown, below, after a long tough battle. Derrick had to help hold it up for the photo. Well done Bernardette!

Not content with that, next day Bernardette, with team work from Derrick again, gets her first river wild brown on a Bead-head Nymph.

First on the dry!

International regulars Ernst and Vanessa were next in September when Vanessa got the first trout of the season on the dry.

Polaroided and stalked from the shore, this lovely 3lb+ wild brown trout fell to the reliable Dark Brown Emerger skilfully placed a metre or so ahead of the fish on its beat.

Ernst was on hand to assist with a smart netting job.

Not to be left out of the action, Ernst releases a top condition rainbow he picked up soon after on an unweighted Brown Nymph.
