Rain … rain … come again
Finally got some mid-to-heavy eastern half rains over the last week or so in Tasmania. Some East Coast areas recording over 200mm — the best falls for a decade or more.
This is great news for the Macquarie River basin and eastern lakes like Leake, Tooms and Currawong.
Went over the Midlands bridge a few days ago and the water was edging over the paddocks, something it has not done for years.
Should have helped the spawning fish, cleared out the stale water and brought a stack of fresh feed into the system.
If we can get good followup rains over the next three months it will be looking good for the early lowland stream and lakes fishing.
Might even have some quality backwater feeders working around; been a number of years since we have had that style of fly work.
