Good introduction at Currawong Lakes

Brien is a picture of concentration with the rod under pressure while a (best part of 4lb) rainbow takes off across the lake.

Fish took an unweighted brown nymph, both performed admirably and the result was this magnificent trout to hand, below. Day ended with a good wild brown and another rainbow to hand.

Energetic ‘tailing’ trout

We think this puts a different slant on that term.

Gordon had a couple of separate introductory workshop days with Red Tag in early October.
Day one, notwithstanding patient practise and greatly improving presentations, the wily trout refused to play … and then a riser!! — #14 Humpy right in its path and clomp, down it went … up with the rod followed by a brief but hectic fight and this was the last we saw of it.

Thanks to Barbara’s quick reflexes and Gordon’s excellent digital camera this was proof that a least a hook-up was had on day one.

Day Two was a different story — first day on the streams with light gear and wow!

Sun out, fish on and this was just one of eight to hand and another 4 or 5 dropped for the day.

Which included 4 on the dry … first for the season on the favourite dark brown emerger.

Above, a beautiful example of these lovely wild brown stream fish.

Lee & Kim workshop

Late September introductory workshop was not the best weather day, for these starters into fly fishing. But the day was successful for Lee with his first ever wild brown trout on the fly.
