Some recent feedback from clients:
Still trying to catch up after getting home. Just thought I would drop you an email telling you what a good time Sue and I had on our fishing day with you.
What an excellent day, the river was as perfect as we could have dreamed. The food was divine (our compliments to the chef) and thanks for the recipes you forwarded.
The weather was windy and raining but we farm, we are used to it and loved it.
What a wonderful memory of Tasmania. On our drive back to our caravan, you talked about the show on iFish, 150 years history of Brown Trout in Tassie and watched the show on YouTube that night.
It was well done and capped off a perfect day — February 14, Valentines Day … fishing for Brown Trout in Tasmania, on a top secluded river, with my wife and a great guide! Going to be tough to top that next year!
Thanks again, for a great day.
— Rob and Sue Bodie, Canada.
Beautiful pics! Wish we were back there on the rivers. Cold and dreary here with about nine hours of daylight. Hope we can do this again soon. It was a highlight of our trip to Tasmania.

Roger, It was great for us to have been part of your 17th season.
We had our pictures put together in a dvd with music and our time with you is one of the highlights of our three weeks in Australia. The vanilla slice is still a great memory.
Enjoy your off season. Thanks again for your hospitality during our time with you.

Roger — Again thanks for the last three days. The experience will be invaluable. I think my approach to fly fishing will change from now on. I also think I have added a few kilos (the catering and accommodation was great).
I guess in some ways not catching a lot of fish at times provided more value to my experience. The need to concentrate every second and to approach the trout with the upmost of caution and deliver the fly with precision every time was definitely emphasised.
Trying different flies as conditions changed and sitting back and watching for signs such as different bugs in the area and rising trout was a great experience.

Thanks so much. We all really enjoyed not just your guiding and teaching, but your company over the few days and sitting down at the end of the day over a lovely home cooked meal, with a drink and some cracking stories. It was amazing, and we cant thank you enough for all your hard work. When we thought about it, you just never stopped for the whole 3 days and the way u had thought about and planned the trip was just perfect.
You’re a fantastic fella Rog and hopefully I’ll get down for some more guiding with you in the future.
– Quentin Boan
Thank you so much for your time and expertise mate, I have had just the best 3 day break and have learnt and amazing amount both about fly fishing and about the beautiful place you call home. I cant wait to do it again.
Oh and by the way, please thank Jenny for me too, the food with all meals was just prefect and complimented the rest of your business just nicely. A great team you both make.

Dear Roger, Just wanted to thank you for a couple of fantastic fishing days in Tasmania.
I enjoyed every minute (well nearly every minute) especially catching that nice brown in the pool before it ran and hid under the log!
I hope all is good with you and that you guys have a great Christmas period. Look forward to our next fishing trip.

I just wished to say thank you very much for an unbelievably memorable experience Fly-fishing for the first time over the weekend, I know that all the boys including my Dad had a great time and will remember it for years to come. The way that you have it set up, including food, transport, accommodation, wines and the fishing couldn’t have been better (apart from catching a trout myself).
Your constant advice, and motivation to teach us, has provided us with the basic skills to go forward and fly-fish on our own or with yourself next time in Tasmania.
PS. Say thanks to Jenny for her great cooking, it was all delicious. Nick even brought up how delicious the egg and bacon pies were last night.
Kind regard and all the best for the trout season,
— Chris Tyas
In three days, I fished with 3 different weight rods, in three very different rivers, 2 of which were small meadow streams similar to which I have never fished before.
In three days I think I learnt more about the finer points of fishing from Roger than I have learnt in the previous 40 years of fishing.
I eagerly look forward to organising another day or two with you Roger to reinforce the new skills.
A really great experience.
I would like to thank you very much for the couple of days that you took me out on what to me, was the best and productive water that I have ever had the pleasure to fish on, and I commend you on running a very professional and friendly business.
I also appreciated all your years of experience, and for your ability to pass as much of that experience on to me in such a short time. I certainly had the best two days fishing I have had ( in my somewhat limited fly fishing experience) to date.
I will be looking for a fishing companion to bring down your way for the weekend package and will be in touch
Dear Roger, I want to thank you to introducing me to Tasmania fly fishing. As a somewhat seasoned fly fishing aficionado I found it to be an absolutely amazing experience.
I have fly fished for over 30 years in the western United States and in the last 10 years extensively in the Patagonia region of South America, and I’ve made two trips to New Zealand. My experience with you in Tassie stands out as my best by far to date.
Your expertise and your gentlemanly manner had a great deal to do with the outcome, but it wouldn’t have turned out the way it did without the amazing Tassie trout and streams.
I found the fish abundant and the wide variety of streams made for a new adventure each and every one of the six days we fished. I got to begin to understand the “stalking for trout” that is so much of the Tasmanian experience.
We did pretty well with weather but we still had wind to deal with. The diversity of the terrain and number of streams made it possible to have a great flyfishing experience on even the windiest day, which turned out to be one of the best. Your knowledge of which stream to pick for each condition of the day helped to make the weather work for us.
The people and communities of Tasmania also made for a memorable experience. Everyone we met was welcoming and the meals we ate at local restaurants were first class, as was the wine.
I was surprised to find that communities near to where we fished in the central highlands had an Irish countryside appeal. And the small bakery in Ross was one of the best I’ve ever encountered. I particularly enjoyed the fresh sourdough rolls we picked up most mornings for our daily streamside sandwiches.
My dilemma in all this is that I’ve come to love Patagonian fishing and I’ve made dear friends there too.
I’ll now have to work in Tasmania to my routine.
Kind regards, Tom Esgate
Wow! What a experience I just had the weekend past. :). I truly loved every minute of the trip. I just wanted to say thank you so much for your hospitality and knowledge you have shared with me. I have told many of my colleagues and would not hesitate at all to recommend your services.
Thankyo and I look forward in seeing the pics.
PS: I loved your and Jenny’s cooking … :)
We received our photos today. Thanks for a truly great fishing experience, looking forward to the next one.
Noah and Sarah
Just a quick note to thank you once again for the marvelous time spent in your company last week. You have been a most gracious host and I thought you offered a product right from the top drawer!
I was particularly impressed with your knowledge of, and enthusiasm for Tasmania. I think the lure of the island has lodged firmly in my thoughts!
You managed in three days to show us the wide diversity of the fishing on offer. Pity the trout didn’t cooperate as we would have hoped, but I think I’ve been around the pond enough times to recognise and acknowledge difficult and trying conditions when I see it.
I hope to share more time with you in future and plan to visit Tasmania often.
Tight lines and singing reels for the rest of your season!
Fond Regards, Lumart
Roger, Many thanks for the very enjoyable and productive day on Saturday, it was a day to remember, good company, good trout and great to be on the pristine river, so much to enjoy.
Hope to do another trip in the future and will be in touch.
Cheers, Jack Speirs
