Recently Ray & I decided to take a look at some of our favourite river spots and check things out. When we pulled up for a coffee and muffin I said to Ray, while we are here, why don’t you put a #3wt together and ‘put a toe in the water so to speak?’
‘Don’t have any waders’ was the reply – just check the edges! But after just a few casts, the following result.
Ray is gently guiding a wild brown ashore. Note, toe not quite in water
Ray proudly holding a nice well conditioned pounder in hand.
… returning same – with toe just in water.
This was the only fishing we actually did as the water level was quite high, but it all augurs well for a great 22/23 season on our rivers. Plenty of water to keep fish active and in top nick. Only a couple of weeks till the mayfly hatches should start and small nymphs and dry fly action aplenty!
Check out the Booking Calendar as good dates available in October, November and December, all good dry/mayfly times on the waters we guide.
