Smooth transition for Red Tag …

Over the last two years or so visitors to this blog will have noticed a new guiding face, Ray Curran, working alongside me and with clients on the water. This has been part of our succession plan with Ray taking over Red Tag Trout Tours as I stepped back gradually.

I am very pleased to announce that, from the beginning of July this year this plan is now a success with Ray the new owner/operator of the business.

Ray has decades of fly fishing, teaching and wild trout fishing experience plus the support of the many landowners whose properties Red Tag has access to, providing top quality, secluded wild trout action. The transition has been about imparting as much of my knowledge about our waters, the areas we access and the many differences between these waters, and sharing the many values that Red Tag holds dearly for how we provide our services and hold our clients in high esteem.

As part of Red Tag’s future operations, I will continue to support Ray in any way I can including accompanying him and clients, if they wish, on jobs sharing my experiences and keeping in touch with the many friends made over the Red Tag journey.

Looking forward to catching up with you whenever I can in the season just starting, which I believe from our last one, will be one of the best for many years providing great wild trout action with dry fly and nymphing to the fore. — Roger Butler
