Good weather & fine fish

I had Guy over two days in April, so we ventured to two very different spots on two different rivers. Both proved to be very successful for a range of reasons, with both fish to hand and the lovely places we went to.

On Day 1, the weather presented perfectly, and the flow was really good. From the outset, the fish were on, and within a short space of time, Guy had landed a beautiful brown.

From then on, it was a similar pattern…cast, strike…sometimes landing them and sometimes not, but there was plenty of activity for that day, so by the time we finished, Guy had a lovely number to hand before we called it a day.

Day 2 we ventured to another great piece of water on a different river, different property, this time hoping for more great action to carry on from Day 1 and from the moment we kitted up it was on.

Dropping his fly gently onto the river as he stripped line ready to cast, Guy inadvertently hooked up immediately only to lose the fish before he could settle. Not sure who was startled the most.

With wide-open expanses, great flow and some beautiful runs, Guy sought out the spots that would most likely produce and by the end of the day he had a lovely number to hand as well as a tree protruding from the river bank but we won’t mention that one.

As the sun went down and we walked back to the car in the fading light, Guy was certainly very happy with his two days and says he will be back.
