Season ending

Well the backend of the season has been up and down a bit but overall quite rewarding for some.

Six beginners took on our March ‘Learn to Fly Fish’ Workshop at Herne, Lachlan, Michael, Trey & Corey, and Bettina and Elisa. By the end of the day they had all picked up the basics of casting and using wet and dry flies very well. From all accounts they will keep going with their new found love of the sport which is fantastic.

Daniel and his daughter Sally (from Boston, USA), enjoyed themselves very much at 28 Gates. Sally was a brand new beginner and picked up casting very quickly. There’s some big fish in there.

Peter and Elizabeth were back for their second trip this season which proved successful again over two days at Currawong.

Phil tried his hand at Herne later in March but the fish were hard to find sadly that day. Still, the experience and the day were worth it and Phil says he will be back.

Greg and Chris had better luck the next day at Currawong Lakes with some lovely fish taken, and missed.

It was lovely to see Lyn return to her passion for fly fishing and although the river we were on proved challenging the reward for Lyn, as she said, was simply to be back fly fishing (with a bonus of seeing two baby freshwater lobsters amongst the rocks).

Looking forward to the end of season guiding coming up then get everything set again for next season.

Speaking of which, I will be holding an information session at 6 pm on Thursday the 14th May at Hurley’s Fly Fishing Store, 489 South Road, Bentleigh VIC if anyone is in the area and would like to come along. Contact Gavin or Lachlan and let them know.
