Tassie Challenge

On the Board

Long-standing clients of Red Tag Trout Tours are Peter and Elizabeth, who come out twice a year and enjoy challenging themselves and each other on Tassie’s rivers and lakes.

Day 1

Day 1 saw them fishing at one of their favourite spots, Currawong Lakes, and this time the prize went to Elizabeth, who caught a couple of lovely fish, including a Rainbow and a Brown. Although the wind was strong and many more fish were seen, we were able to find those sheltered spots where Peter almost had one or two, but it wasn’t to be his day.

Searching

Still, just being on the water and seeing some beautiful fish was what they loved to do. The end of the day saw us having a lovely dinner at the Campbell Town Hotel, where Vanessa, Lachlan and Kat looked after us very well, thank you.

… I say chaps …

Day 2 saw us head inland and on to a beautiful section of a river they had not fished before. Blue sky, lovely and warm day, insects all around, we walked a short distance before Elizabeth and Peter took turns to fish in this water.

Winning grin

Elizabeth almost had one straight up as she prepared her line and dropped the fly onto the water when wham, a fish came up and took it before she was ready…that one got away. But it wasn’t long before Elizabeth was on and landed a lovely brown on her Royal Wulff.

Must be one here

Then it was Peter’s turn, pulling out a lovely brown of about 1lb from under the shadows of the tree on the riverbank. That good old grasshopper did the trick. A few minutes later, under the same tree, Peter hauled in a magnificent brown of about 2 1/2lb.

The End (for now)

Beautiful, crystal clear water, a good level and lovely weather added to the day and by the end, Peter had two more, and we had a couple missed. All in all, a good day.

I know they will be back for more adventures in the second half of the season.
